The Authority of the Bible:
We rely on the Bible as the inspired Word of God and as the final authority for Christian faith and life. We recognize that there is a human character to the Bible. The Bible was written by human beings and it records human events and concerns using a variety of writing styles. The Bible describes God’s interactions with Israel (in the Old Testament) and the life of Jesus and the early church (in the New Testament). But at a deeper level, at the level of faith, we believe that the Bible is a unique record of God’s will and purpose. The Bible is the Word of God in written form, and its writers were inspired by the Holy Spirit. In its centering on Christ, the Bible proclaims who God is and what His will is for us. It is the final authority for our Christian faith and life.
