About Us

Our Mission

"We are grounded in God's Word, confident in God's grace, committed to sharing God's love."

"Grounded in God’s Word"

At Emmanuel we believe in the integrity of the Scriptures and that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  God’s word endures through the ages and provides the road map for our lives and responses to each other and our world. The Bible is the final authority for Christian faith and life. God never changes! We also know that we are called to keep learning and growing in the Word and purposefully create opportunities for Bible Study.

"Confident in God’s Grace"

We know that everything we receive from God is by His grace alone, not because of anything we have done.  God’s blessings to us show us the power of Love and we are called to pass that love on to others! It is so special to know that as we grow in faith and receive God's grace, we are excited to share it with others - including you!

"Committed to sharing God’s Love"

God’s Word and Grace model our commitment to share the Message and Love with everyone we meet.  We encourage each other, we reach out in love to help others, and we stand firm in making sure that we tell the true story of Jesus and His redeeming Love.

Our Worship

Worship at Emmanuel follows traditional Lutheran liturgy.  There is a certain structure to our worship, many parts of which go back to the practice of the early days of the church. Within this structure, some parts change from week to week (hymns, Bible readings, and prayers), while other parts remain the same throughout the year. We celebrate Holy Communion every week.  Young families with children are always most welcome and there is a Children's Message every Sunday!

  • We gather as a community.  We confess our sins and praise God in song and prayer.

  • We hear His Word.  We read three lessons from the Bible, and we hear God speak to us through the sermon.

  • We dine at His table.  We confess our faith and offer prayers.  Then we offer thanks and praise over the bread and wine and share in the meal of Jesus' body and blood.

  • We go forth to serve.  Fortified and comforted with God's grace and mercy in worship, we depart in peace to serve God in our daily lives.

Our Creeds

Our Christian faith has been summarized in statements of belief. The Lutheran Church subscribes to the three Ecumenical Creeds: the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed.  These Creeds increase in length and complexity to answer more sophisticated questions about the faith. We say the Apostles' Creed every Sunday.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended into hell.

On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.
