Pastoral Call

Emmanuel Lutheran Church (NALC) is seeking a full-time pastor to shepherd our congregation in State College, Pennsylvania. Emmanuel is a 10-year-old church plant of faithful members eager to embark on the next decade of preaching, teaching, and reaching out to share God’s Word with others!

Worship and Leadership

As a congregation, we have witnessed God’s hand guiding us steadily from early meetings in our homes to the strong place we are today. On any given Sunday, approximately 50 members and friends participate in our morning worship service and regularly attend our children’s, youth, and adult Sunday School classes.

We are blessed to have a retired pastor, Rev. Chris Milarch, in our congregation who has willingly come out of retirement to shepherd our church until we call a new pastor. He is a gifted teacher, preacher, and storyteller, and has helped the congregation to maintain a welcoming environment and consistent worship of Christ.

Our Current Home and Future Plans

While currently renting space in an established church building for worship and fellowship activities, we are thrilled that by God’s grace, we were recently able to purchase a scenic 10-acre property that is easily accessible to our current membership and nearby a number of thriving family neighborhoods. With the generosity of our members, our vision is to build a new church building and create a space where we can capitalize on the beauty of the natural setting to worship and glorify God while drawing new families closer to Christ.

Community Strength and Expertise

God has abundantly blessed us with talented and faithful people who generously give of their time and talents. With Penn State University as our neighbor, we have benefited from expertise in areas such as education, music, building and construction, planning,

and development. That said, what unites and drives us is our ardent love of Jesus, our faithful adherence to the true Word of God, and a desire to share the Good News of God’s gift of salvation.

Trusting God's Plan

Now, as we embark on our second decade of ministry, we prayerfully seek to call a pastor who will continue leading our church in service to God. On an ongoing basis, we pray for our congregation, our Call Committee, and for the pastor that God is calling to
our congregation.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church is well-positioned for a pastor who exemplifies a personal relationship with God and others and who can lead and guide us into a creative and energetic ministry. We look forward to calling a pastor who shares our passion for Christ and our core values of being “Grounded in God’s Word, Confident in God’s Grace, and Committed to sharing God’s Love.”
